Suvannamaccha (Thai: สุพรรณมัจฉา; RTGS: Suphannamatcha or Suphan Matcha; Khmer: សុវណ្ណមច្ឆា; Sovann Maccha; Sanskrit: सुवर्णमत्स्य, suvarṇamatsya; literally golden fish) is a daughter of Tosakanth appearing in the Thai and other Southeast Asian versions of Ramayana.
She is a mermaid princess who tries to spoil Hanuman's plans to build a bridge to Lanka but falls in love with him instead.
Mermaids aren't popular in Hindu mythology or in Eastern mythology as a whole, but there are a few. Their god, Vishnu, appeared as the avatar Matsya, a fish god, and Suvannamaccha is a mermaid princess who appears to the monkey-god Hanuman and falls in love with him.
